Reading

The reading section of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test is designed to assess your ability to understand written English in a variety of contexts. The section is divided into three parts, with a total of 40 questions.

Here is a description of the tasks and time limits for the reading section:

  • Part 1: This part of the test consists of a series of short texts, such as advertisements or notices. You will be asked a total of 10 questions about the texts, and you will have 20 minutes to read the texts and answer the questions.

  • Part 3: This part of the test consists of a longer text, such as a book extract or an article. You will be asked a total of 20 questions about the text, and you will have 20 minutes to read the text and answer the questions.

In total, the reading section of the IELTS test takes approximately 60 minutes, including the time you have to read the texts and answer the questions. It’s important to manage your time carefully during this section and to focus on understanding the main ideas and details of the texts.
